Need for Speed

I want a new computer. I could use a new vehicle, but my messed up priorities tell me that I really want a computer. This wouldn't be such a big deal if I were a PC user, they're cheap. But I want one with a G in the name, which means Apple. And it means paying the premium to get one.

My G3 has been a faithful companion for 6 years now and it's getting a little slow. Only a 233Mhz processor, which means no OS X. (Read "ten" not "x") Today alone I had to reboot twice. You PC users may be laughing, but I'll bet the old Pentium IIs aren't doing too well in today's web either.

So this leads me to a really hard choice. Do I want a PowerBook or a Power Mac? I guess I really want both, but I couldn't afford both. I don't play games on the computer, so the horsepower of a desktop isn't required, but that means a 32 bit processor. G5s are 64...

I think I'll have to go to an Apple Store and drool over the machines to make up my mind, staring at paper weights in Best Buy isn't going to help me any.
