Ooo! Pointless Nostalgia.

I wrote that I have never kept a journal, which is the half-truth I guess. As I'm sure everyone has, I had one in English class my junior year of high school. I can remember writing in it about how much fun it was going to be to finally have Internet access. Mankato had just become a local call for St. Peter and we were getting on the high speed wagon, at 14.4bps. Anyone remember the term baud? Our old Mac had a 2400 baud modem, which wasn't equal to 2400 bps if anyone cares...

But I'm off on a tangent. What I remember most about keeping the journal was that a lot of my classmates thought it was an incredible waste of time and that became the topic they wrote about. Our teacher had never looked at them so we figured we could sound off in secrecy. But one day she decided to give us credit and took them with her to read. The nerve! She wasn't very happy about it, especially since a few people wrote about her in a not very flattering manner. She cried, we felt a little bad, and no more journal.

So here I am keeping one on my own. I think the only tears that will be shed are those of boredom, but you could have stopped reading awhile ago.

And speaking of '96, ever wonder what the web looked like back then? Then check this out, it's The Way Back Machine.

The Way Back Machine is pretty cool. I found the first website I ever wrote in their archives. I thought all was lost when MSU shut down that server!!
